At the invitation of Danny Casey, the Chief Operating Officer of World Youth Day, today we experienced a real Aussie treat.  We visited the Koala Park Sanctuary where we  watched the sheep sheering, fed the lazy kangaroos, pet the chubby wombat, observed the wily dingoes, and provoked the chattering cockatoos.  We began to wonder if we were having a little too much fun, but Danny assured us that the visit to the Koala Park was a favorite of the Vatican delegation preparing for the Papal Visit in 2008, and that the very park we visited was where Pope John Paul II had his famous koala encounter, photos of which are among the most circulated of the images of Pope John Paul.  Good company, indeed!
