Thanksgiving Blessings ... and Trials

e

While the Sisters enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner on November 25, 2004, the community received yet another clear sign that the addition of a new building and a renovation of the old building is needed.  The ceiling of the Professed Community Room caved in, giving us another reason to thank Our Lady of this House for protecting all from harm.  On a typical night, many of the Sisters would have been sitting in the area, watching the evening news.  On Thanksgiving Day, all were safely enjoying a delicious dinner.

The remains of the ceiling hang precariously shortly after the collapse.
The "pipe" that runs along the fallen ceiling is where the electricity runs through the room.

Mother Rose Marie and Sister Mary Angela assess the damage the morning of November 26.
More sections had come loose and fallen over the night.

Unsure of the safety of the Chapel, the Sisters prayed Compline (Night Prayer) in the Recreation Hall on Thanksgiving evening

Sisters take a look at the damaged Community Room through the windows.  Because of the concern for asbestos, no one is allowed into the room
