St. Paul School
Founded 1949, Memphis, Tennessee
Diocese of Memphis

Saint Paul Parish was founded in 1945, and the school was added in 1949 under the Sisters of Mercy. During the interim the children of the parish had attended St. Thomas School.

In 1965, when St. Joseph Church was built, St. Paul Parish was split. The Sisters of Mercy took the new St. Joseph School, and the Nashville Dominicans came to St. Paul, commuting from Holy Child Kindergarten until the convent was finished.

Saint Paul School is known for its outstanding children’s choir, which has sung for events such as the dedication of the St. Jude Hospital Research Tower, the funeral of Danny Thomas, and the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Memphis.

The Jubilee of the Year 2000 will be celebrated by the students, families and faculty of St. Paul School with special gratitude as they also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the school’s founding.
