St. Joseph School
Founded 1953, Madison, Tennessee
Diocese of Nashville

Monsignor George Rohling, first pastor of St. Joseph Church, opened the school in the fall of 1953 with 160 students, five teachers and Sister Josephine Connelly as principal. Among the student body were many children who had previously attended Holy Name School in East Nashville. Much enthusiasm went into the construction of the new church, which attracted attention nationwide for its innovative architectural design. At this time additions were made to the school which included a gymnasium and a cafeteria.

Over the course of the past 47 years, St. Joseph School has grown in quality and depth. It boasts a stable and dedicated faculty, as well as a tradition of parents who are generous with their time and energy. Along with a solid academic program, the school is strong in fine arts, particularly in the areas of forensics and music. With the recent renovation, St. Joseph School now enjoys a first rate facility with the full benefit of technological advancements.
