St. Henry School
Founded 1957, Nashville, Tennessee
Diocese of Nashville

In the 1950’s, the West Nashville area was expanding rapidly, and the Catholic families there were clamoring for a church of their own. Bishop William Adrian released Monsignor Joseph Siener from Holy Name Church and asked him to obtain property for a new church in the area. A wealthy Catholic layman, Henry Neuhoff, offered 62 acres of the large farm where he raised horses and cattle. The property, located along what is now Harding Road, proved to be the ideal location both for a church and a new Catholic school.

St. Henry Church and School is known, not only for its large size, but also for its large-hearted devotion to the Faith and generosity to those in need. Given such a spiritual dedication, it is not surprising that Marian devotion, a strong pro-life presence and numerous vocations to the priesthood and religious life have flourished. The parish and school have provided considerable services and financial assistance to needy schools in the diocese. They also built St. Thomas Aquinas School in Haiti and continue to send supplies and support on a regular basis. At St. Henry School the Faith is taught, lived and spread far beyond its boundaries.
