Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School
Founded 1956, Carmel, Indiana
Diocese of Lafayette

Mission Statement:  Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, a Christ-centered community, provides excellence in education to meet the needs of the whole child.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School is a Kindergarten through Eighth Grade Elementary/Middle School located adjacent to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Carmel, Indiana. For nearly half a century, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School has provided challenging academics in a strong faith-based community.

From its beginning in a very rural setting in central Indiana, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School has experienced continuous growth in enrollment and in the physical facility.  The school operates at capacity enrollment and has waiting lists for most grades.  Suburban sprawl has changed the face of the community and the parish over the last 50 years.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel faculty and staff are committed to the belief that students are entitled to a quality education in a caring atmosphere with Christian family values.  They hold high standards of academic excellence in which gospel values are integrated in everyday activities.  School personnel address each child’s spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being.

In the fall of 2005, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel welcomed the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia to the parish and the community.  The Sisters join the school staff and parents in providing a secure and challenging environment where Jesus and His teachings are at the heart of everyday learning.

Current Bishop: Reverend Bishop William Higi
Enrollment: 662
